Get your unedited save back with Download Original

Save Editor keeps a pristine copy of every save you upload. Download Original hands it back byte-for-byte, with none of your edits applied — the simplest possible undo.

Made a few edits and want the file exactly as it was when you uploaded it? Save Editor keeps a pristine copy of every save you upload, and on Skilled Archivist and above you can pull it back down with one click — Download Original. Think of it as a built-in safety net.

What it does

When you upload a save, the editor stores your original file untouched and works on a copy. Download Original gives you back that stored file — byte-for-byte identical to what you uploaded, with none of your edits applied.

It's the simplest possible undo: no matter how many changes you made, your starting point is always one click away.

It even works for files the editor couldn't open (a format that isn't editable yet). The original upload is always retrievable — so you never lose the file just because editing wasn't supported.

How to use it

  1. Log in and go to your files list.
  2. Find the save you want and open its menu.
  3. Click Download Original.

The original file downloads immediately, under its original name. That's it.

These two buttons do different things — it's worth knowing which is which:

A handy combo: keep editing freely, and if anything goes wrong, grab Download Original to reset and start over.

Who can use it

  • Download Original is part of Skilled Archivist and Master Archivist. On Free and Novice the menu entry opens the plans dialog instead.
  • You need to be signed in, and you can only download your own files.
  • It lives in your saved-files menu, so it applies to files saved to your account. A free account keeps your 5 most recent saves and cannot pin any. Novice Archivist keeps 50 and pins 5, Skilled Archivist 100 and 10, Master Archivist 200 and 20.
  • Saves you have not pinned are replaced as you upload newer ones, and they expire on their own after a few days. Once a save leaves your list its original goes with it — so pin anything you care about. A bigger tier keeps more saves around, and therefore more originals you can still come back to.
Warning:Still worth a local backup. Download Original is a great server-side safety net, but it's not a substitute for your own backup. Before editing, keep a local copy too — for example, rename it backup_<filename>. Belt and suspenders.
